Montenegro is situated in southeastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula, with access to the Adriatic Sea. Montenegro covers only 14 000 km2 and has about 670,000 inhabitants.
Perhaps its name, Montenegro, on the most different languages , sound like a country of South America, but if you explore a little deeper the result is one small European country which is attractive and special with its national, cultural, natural, historical and geographical diversity.
It is bordered with Serbia to the east and north, on the west and northwest with Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania on the southeast. The Adriatic Sea in the southwest separates Montenegro from Italy. The main, and also the largest city is Podgorica, while Cetinje has the status of the capital.

Due to its outstanding universal cultural and natural values part of the Bay and town of Kotor, which covers an area of Kotor and Risan, are on the UNESCO list of World heritag since 1979.
Thanks to its coast, the number, quality, tourist value of natural and anthropogenic resources Montenegro is one of the most attractive parts of the Mediterranean and Europe.
Montenegrin coast is the most exposed and most interesting for summer tourism.
Montenegrin coast includes six municipalities: Herceg Novi, Tivat, Kotor, Budva, Bar and Ulcinj. This is a very narrow strip of land (2-10km), separated from the interior of a high and steep karst mountains of Rumija, Sutorman, Orjen andLovcen. The coast is very indented with numerous bays and coves. Montenegrin coast extends from the entrance to the Bay to the mouth of the river Bojana into the Adriatic Sea. The most impressive and largest is the Bay of Kotor, which is the most southern fjord in the world. Since 1997. The Boka Kotorska has officially been included in the Association of 28 most beautiful bays in the world. The coast of the Bay of Kotor is provided at 105.5 km, while the width of the strait that connects Herceg Novi bay with the open sea, is 2950 m.
