About us

We're the W2MNE team, a small group of people who live in Montenegro. We built Welcome2Montenegro to give visitors the advice we'd give our own friends: honest, specific and based on places we've actually been.

Why we started

Most travel sites collect listings and reviews from anyone, about anywhere. It's hard to tell who has actually been to a place, or when. For a first-time visitor to Montenegro, that makes it easy to end up at the overpriced beach bar or the boat tour everyone regrets.

We wanted the opposite: fewer recommendations, each one traceable to a real visit by a real person, with a date. And when we've been somewhere and didn't like it, we say that too.

What we do

• A first-hand guide. Places to stay, eat, swim and hike, region by region, each with our visit history. All of them are on one map you can filter.
• The Montenegro Wiki. What to know before you come: money, transport, taxis, when to visit and how things work here.
• Free help planning your trip. Tell us when you're coming, for how long and what you like. We'll reply within 48 hours with personal suggestions. It's free.

We publish in two versions: English for international visitors, and Montenegrin for visitors from Montenegro and the region. They aren't word-for-word translations, because the two audiences need different things.
