How we work

Every recommendation on Welcome2Montenegro has a name and a date on it. If we recommend a place to stay, someone from our team slept there. If we recommend a restaurant, someone from our team ate there. If we haven't been, we say so.

This page explains how we check places, how we label what we publish, and how we pay for the site.

How we verify

Each place we write about keeps a history of our visits: who went, when, what they paid and what they thought. The label you see on a place comes from that history, not from our opinion of the day.

• W2MNE Verified — we visited in the last 18 months and we recommend it.
• Needs a revisit — we recommended it, but our last visit was more than 18 months ago. Places change, so we're due to go back.
• Not recommended — we went and wouldn't send you there. We always say why.
• Not visited yet — we haven't been. We don't give a verdict on places we haven't seen.

A bad visit isn't erased by time. If our last visit was a "no", the place stays not recommended until we go back and change our mind.

Three kinds of recommendation

• W2MNE Verified — someone from our team was there in person. You'll see who and when.
• Friend recommendation — someone we know personally and trust recommended it, but we haven't been yet. We name the friend, and we don't add a verdict of our own.
• Verified AD — a paid feature, always labelled as an ad. We only accept it from places we have visited and would recommend anyway.

The rule behind the last one: an advertiser has to earn the recommendation first. If we wouldn't recommend a place, we don't take its money.

How we make money

The site is free, and so is our help planning your trip. It's paid for in three ways:

• Donations. If the site helped you, you can support us through Buy Me a Coffee or PayPal. A donation doesn't buy anything else: no placement, no better review.
• Booking.com links. Some places to stay have a Booking.com link. If you book through it, Booking.com pays us a small commission, and your price stays the same. We only add these links to places our team has stayed in, and they're marked.
• Verified AD. Places we already recommend can pay to be featured. These are always labelled as ads.

Money never changes a verdict. We publish what to skip, including on pages where we earn something.

Our rules

1. No recommendation without a name and a date on it.
2. We tell you what to skip, including on pages where we earn money.
3. Prices are always ranges, with the date we saw them.
4. Every photo is our own, and credited. No stock photos.
5. Our team writes the content. We don't use AI to invent facts, prices or opinions.
6. We'd rather publish fewer pages, done properly, than many thin ones.

Spotted a mistake?

Prices change, places close, trails get rerouted. If something on the site is wrong or out of date, write to us at w2mne@proton.me. We check every correction and update the page.
