The North
The North is the mountainous part of Montenegro, with high peaks, deep river canyons and dense forests. Three of the country's five national parks are here: Durmitor above Žabljak, Biogradska gora between Kolašin and Mojkovac, and Prokletije above Plav and Gusinje. Durmitor National Park is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The region also includes the Tara canyon with the Đurđevića Tara bridge, Piva Lake near Plužine, an artificial lake in the deep canyon of the Piva river, the meanders of the Ćehotina near Pljevlja, and the towns of Bijelo Polje, Berane and Rožaje.
